Charges have been filed against an assault suspect shot by a female at 7701 Cullen Boulevard about 9:30 a.m. last Friday (March 12).

The suspect, Marshall Dwayne Knight (b/m, 40), is charged with assault of a family member and terroristic threat in Harris County Criminal Court # 13.  A booking photo of Marshall, who remains hospitalized, is not available for release at this time.

The female shooter, 39, sustained bruising to her face.

HPD Major Assaults andamp; Family Violence Division Detective S. De La Cruz reported:

It is believed that Knight was high on narcotics when he slapped a family member in the face during an argument at the above address.  The woman feared Marshall was going to harm her after she observed a gun in the front pocket of his pants.  At that time, the woman pulled a gun she had concealed and shot Marshall one time in his torso.  Paramedics transported Marshall to a hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening wound.

The facts of the incident were presented to the Harris County District Attorney's Office, which declined charges against the woman because she was defending herself.
