The Woodlands Arts Council, producers of the Fidelity Investments The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival set for April 9-10, is pleased to announce Guilloume as this year’s featured artist.
Guilloume (pronounced gee’-jho-may) is a master of “Bolismo”, an emotional style using simple forms, textures, and movements to exhibit human feelings from the most complex to the simplest.
A native of Medellin, Colombia, Guilloume maintains his studio of fine art in Sandia Park, NM near Santa Fe. His minimalist style is expressed primarily in oil paintings and bronze sculptures, from tabletop-sized to massive. He also works in watercolors, oil pastel, pastel, pencil, and ink, as well as bronze reliefs and stone sculptures. He dedicated himself to art at an early age and completed formal studies at Bellas Artes Institute in Colombia in 1981.
“I like simplicity... round shapes and circles to represent human forms without specific identifying details,” said Guilloume. “My art is a universal expression of earthly humanism with its joys, afflictions, and fears.”
His featured art piece for this year is a 6-foot-tall by 4-foot-wide oil-on-metal triptych entitled “Celebrating Abundance.” The stunning piece will be auctioned at the Art Dash Party set for the evening of April 8th as a prelude to the festival.
This year’s outdoor, jury-selected fine arts show will roll out on the weekend of April 9-10, 2022, along the scenic banks of The Woodlands Waterway and in Town Green Park.
In its 17th year, this popular fine arts show will feature original artwork ranging across a variety of mediums including painting, drawing, clay, metal, woodworks, photography, mixed media, and jewelry, leather, and fiber created by over 200 jury-selected local, national, and international artists.
Live music, entertainment, food, and fun activities for kids round out this long-standing springtime tradition for families and locals. A jewel of the Texas fine arts tour, it is ranked among the top fine arts festivals in the country and has been voted as the “Best Event In The Woodlands” for 10 years in a row.
Jenny Carattini-Wright, Executive Director of The Woodlands Arts Council, producers of the festival, added, “We are delighted to showcase the wonderfully talented Guilloume as our featured artist this year. He has been a long-time festival exhibitor and has attracted much attention and interest over the years. His ‘Celebrating Abundance’ original artwork that he created for our festival captures the spirit of our community embracing the arts. This amazing and beautiful art piece will be auctioned live as the Grand Prize at the Art Dash Party. We invite the community to attend this year’s festival and celebrate an abundance of art.”
