Once again, Texans and our loyal customers helped keep H-E-B among the top grocery retailers in the nation.

H-E-B was ranked second in a consumer survey by consumer research firm, dunnhumby, which evaluated nearly 60 grocery retailers in the U.S. For the report, the research firm ranks retailers based on surveys from more than 10,000 U.S. households and financial performance. The report also ranked H-E-B highest on employee engagement.

According to the 5th Annual Retailer Preference Index: US Grocery Channel Edition report, “H-E-B maintained its spot at number two, continuing to display its strategic superiority over the competition by holding its ground on its traditionally strong balance of great Price perception and great Quality perception, driven by its best-in-class private brand, while also making some of its biggest improvements during Covid in Digital.”

In 2020, the Texas-based retailer took the top spot, and ranked second last year.

During the start of the pandemic in 2020, H-E-B had a quick coronavirus response that led to the company maintaining a steady hand amid the COVID-19 chaos by implementing product limitations and rolling out a social distancing plan weeks before any other chain,” an article on mysanantonio.com stated. “It had such a quick response that H-E-B was named Grocer of the Year for its efforts during the pandemic…

H-E-B’s drive to provide the best customer experience with top quality products, both in store and online, as well as its commitment to community, led the news site Chron.com to call the San Antonio-based retailer “still No. 1 in the heart of Texans.”

Right back at you, Texas!
