Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal crash that occurred at 8898 Richmond Avenue about 11:25 p.m. on Wednesday (January 12).
The suspect, Alvaro Ramirez-Ramirez (H/m, 35), is charged with intoxication manslaughter and failure to stop and render aid in the 262nd State District Court. A booking photo of Ramirez-Ramirez is attached to this news release.
The identity of the male victim, 46, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Griffiths and Officer S. Bouarar reported:
A black Dodge Ram pickup truck was traveling eastbound near the above address and a white Audi A6 was traveling northbound on Fondren Road. The pickup truck ran the red light at the intersection of Fondren Road and struck the Audi.
Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased. The driver of the pickup truck, later identified as Ramirez-Ramirez, was determined to be intoxicated and was taken into custody at the scene and subsequently charged for his role in the crash.
