In keeping with this "new normal", a phrase we all hope will soon be a thing of the past, American Heart Association’s Houston Chapter is pivoting from the annual, in-person, glamorous Heart Ball to an exciting digital experience–Heart of Houston. Join the heart-healthy organization on Thursday, February 11, 2021 for a lively and festive virtual event supporting and celebrating the mission ofthe American Heart Association and their collective success in driving change, funding science and improving behaviors. The new Heart of Houston campaign takes philanthropic efforts beyond the ballroom, working daily to help every heart, improve the struggles of our neighbors and increase the impact of community partners. Guests are encouraged to dress up in ball gowns and tuxedos or cozy up in their loungewear and enjoy this signature event from the comfort of their own homes.
Attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy delicious bites and decadent sips delivered to their doors as they tune-in to the digital experience featuring heartfelt conversations with event chairs, Lisa and Jerry Simon (Pictured Below). Virtual attendees will also have the chance to bid on luxury live and silent auctions items, as well as a case of 100 point wines and other delectable finds in the wine auction. One of the most exciting aspects of the event will be the exclusive opportunity for virtual party-goers to watch world-renowned, Grammy Award-winning cellist Yo-Yo Ma perform. Yo-Yo Ma’s performance on the Heart of Houston program will deliver a message of hope, similar to that of his most recent performance at the 2021 Presidential Inauguration concert.
Yo-Yo Ma is an exceptional American cellist. His career spans six decades, in which he has recorded over 100 albums and won 18 Grammy Awards. He received the Presidential Medal of Freedom and was an honoree at the Kennedy Center Honors in 2011, and was named as one of Time magazine’s 100 Most Influential People of 2020. Recently, the musician participated in President Biden’s “United We Serve” National Day of Service celebration, and performed "Amazing Grace" at the 2021 Presidential Inauguration Celebrating America Concert, hosted by Tom Hanks and featuring other great musical acts such as Bruce Springsteen, Justin Timberlake, John Legend, and Tim McGraw. To learn more, visit his website..
Ahead of the event, on Thursday, February 4, 2021, AHA will host a virtual VIP Reception where sponsors and supporters can come together to learn more about the organization and the work they are doing to drive its mission. VIP attendees will have the opportunity to participate in break out Zoom groups to meet doctors and researchers that AHA is funding, as well as get an exclusive first look at the auction items that will be offered at the Heart of Houston event.
