On Monday, Jan. 17th, Harris County ESD No. 46 / The Atascocita Fire Department was honored to announce the receipt of grant funding from the Northeast Hospital Authority which will be used for the purchase of a new ambulance (similar to the one pictured here which was delivered in the Fall of 2020). The ambulance has been ordered with delivery expected in June of 2022.

The Northeast Hospital Authority was originally established by the city of Humble in 1977 for the purpose of creating and operating a hospital in the Humble area. Forty-five years later, they no longer own what is now known as Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital, but they continue their mission to ensure access to ever-evolving quality healthcare in the greater Humble area with the grants and donations that they provide.

In 2021 the Atascocita Fire Department, an all hazards emergency services provider in unincorporated Northeast Harris County, responded to over 6,500 EMS calls primarily in the Atascocita community of approximately 80,000 residents. AFD is an ISO 1 rated department and operates four mobile intensive care unit (MICU) level ambulances, three fire engines, and one ladder truck 24 hours a day, seven days a week from three stations within the Atascocita community.

The Northeast Hospital Authority board members pictured in attendance at the Harris County ESD No. 46 board meeting on Monday included; President Roy Hearnsberger, Vice President Robert Panzarella, Treasurer Tim Baker, Trustee Roger Brown, and Trustee Michael Legoudes. Northeast Hospital Authority Board members not in attendance include Trustee Michael Hardage and Trustee Mark Mitchell.

AFD Chief of Department Mike Mulligan and Harris County ESD No. 46 Commissioners President Tom Truver, Treasurer Ron Clarke, and Assistant Secretary Treasurer John Bollom are pictured at the ESD meeting with the members of the Northeast Hospital Authority board.
