In celebration of the 60th anniversary of Major League Baseball in Houston, the Astros announced they will wear special commemorative 60th anniversary patches during the 2022 season.
The team will wear the commemorative shield patch on both home and road on-field caps, along with on the sleeve of their jerseys.

“We are so excited to celebrate 60 years of Astros baseball in 2022,” said Anita Seghal, Astros Senior Vice President, Marketing and Communication. “Our club has a rich history here in our home of Houston and we can’t wait to celebrate and highlight all those accomplishments with our fans throughout this historic milestone season.”
On April 10, 1962, a new Major League Baseball franchise arrived in the city of Houston. On that date, the new Colt .45s defeated the visiting Chicago Cubs, 11-2, at Colt Stadium in Houston in what was the first regular season game in franchise history.
The shield logo features the 60 years, with the state of Texas, our home, inside the zero on 60. The bottom left side of the logo boasts the Colt .45 logo, the name of the organization at its inception in 1962 and the right side includes 2022 with the current Astros wordmark logo, showcasing the transition of the club from 1962 to present day.
The Astros will celebrate their 60th anniversary throughout the season. In addition to donning the 60th anniversary patches, the club will also celebrate its history and 60 seasons in Houston throughout the season, including special Flashback Friday games.
The New Era on-field cap in home and road with the 60th anniversary patch is now available at the Astros Team Store, along with the official on-field sleeve patch.
