Academy Sports + Outdoors partnered with Texas Southern University Department of Athletics recently for its latest community service initiative as TSU adopted the Little Birdies Mobile Golf Academy students for the 2021 spring semester. Little Birdies provides a great resource to the Houston community by introducing the game of Golf through Character Education coupled with STEM lessons, in a SAFE atmosphere to young people who may not been exposed to the game.
The TSU men's and women's golf teams along with TSU athletics administrators donated a gift card Thursday afternoon to Mr. Archie Craft of Little Birdies. The gift card allowed Little Birdies to purchase much-needed equipment which will directly benefit the entire Little Birdies' operations. In addition, the students will be mentored by TSU athletes throughout the spring semester.
"I'm extremely honored to partner with Academy Sports + Outdoors for this initiative as this will directly impact the Little Birdies organization," said Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics Kevin Granger. "Having our men's and women's golf teams involved is also important as they'll have an opportunity to help sow the seeds for the next generation of golfers and impact someone's life directly. I want to give special thanks to Academy Sports + Outdoors for their commitment to the Southwestern Athletic Conference, TSU and the local community."
