Winter Storm tagged interest

While many have returned to normal grocery shopping habits, a lot of us here in Houston are still purchasing our groceries through curbside pickup. As we log in to our favorite grocery store websites to place our orders this morning, we are finding mass outages on essential items that are the core of our weekly orders. I logged on this morning to the Walmart website to find they were out of most every kind of meat that I have become accustomed to eating on my Keto diet.

H-E-B, arguably Houstonand#39;s favorite grocery store following their actions of this past week, has taken the reins of this problem by implementing temporary purchase limits on certain items. In a February 21st press update, H-E-B reported that its stores are "in strong supply" amd "continue to restock products daily". They have also limited hours at some stores in an effort to curb demand and allow for restocking.

In an effort to make sure all customers have access to products they need, H-E-B is limiting the purchase of the following items per shopping trip/transaction:

The following limits apply to all H-E-B stores:
Food items (all H-E-B stores)
Water Gallons
– Limit 2
Water multipack – Limit 2
Baby Water Gallons – Limit 2
Baby Water multipack – Limit 2
Eggs – Limit 2
Milk – Limit 2
Bread – Limit 2
Bakery bread – Limit 2
Bakery tortillas – Limit 2
Ice – Limit 2
Charcoal – Limit 2
All meat (beef, chicken, pork, turkey) fresh cut and ground – Limit 5 total (does not apply to H-E-B stores in San Antonio, West Texas or Joe V’s Smart Shop)

Non-food items (all H-E-B stores)

Paper towels – Limit 2
Propane Tanks – Limit 2
Aerosol disinfectant sprays – 2 items
(Isopropyl) Alcohol swabs – 2 items
First Aid and Cleaning Gloves – 2 items
Trial andamp; Travel Size Disinfectant Wipes/Sprays – Limit 2

On the downside, curbside and home delivery orders have been canceled, but H-E-B plans to resume regular operations as soon as possible. H-E-B’s pharmacies will be open according to store hours. Also, in the spirit of Texans helping Texans, H-E-B has prioritized conserving energy across all stores to help preserve the energy grid in Texas. Over the past week, from their manufacturing facilities to their stores and administrative offices, they have drastically reduced all non-essential power such as lighting and HVAC set points. Additionally, when facilities were closed, they have also turned off all non-essential power.

H-E-B continues to set the bar and set the example in Houston and in all of the markets they service.
