For Houston, TX emo act stopnowstartagain, the new single “liplock” was an outlet to express what he’s been feeling. Fans of early emo and pop-punk artists like A Newfound Glory, The Juliana Theory, Midtown and The Early November will definitely find something new to love in stopnowstartagain, though the sound is anything but dated.  Houston has a long history of producing quality pop-punk and emo artists including the legendary Mineral, Pop Unknown, Fenix TX, Morningsidedrive and more, and stopnowstartagain could be the next progression.

“This song is about how difficult it is to actually talk about things that bother you,” explains the artist. “So, instead I wrote a song about it. I sing one song, cause I canand#39;t talk. It stays on my tongue, like a liplock.”

The music video (above) for "Liplock" depicts depression in human form, waiting to attack stopnowstartagain.

“The video illustrates how I feel about depression. Itand#39;s admittedly not a very optimistic view, as I consider myself to be a pessimist in a very philosophical sense,” says the artist. “As we live our lives, carefree and oblivious to the potential harm we are exposed to on a daily basis, depression is constantly looming, ready to pounce at any moment. Eventually, it finally gets you. This video allowed for me to playfully express my attitude towards my experiences for the past few years in relation to my mental health.”

Though stopnowstartagain is a brand new project, heand#39;s been playing music for the better part of the past decade. Like many others, 2020 took its toll on him.

“The past year of my life has been the most tumultuous Iand#39;ve experienced. I lost my grandmother who saved my life as a young kid, I lost my faith and a lot of my most meaningful relationships came to an end. During this time, Strings Attached, a full length record by pop punkand#39;s best kept secret, The Composure was on repeat constantly. Thereand#39;s a song that record called and#39;Stop Now, Start Again.and#39; That song in particular helped me realize what point I was at in life. A point where I really needed to renew and redefine. To stop, and start again.”
