Houston To Do tagged interest

In a bit of news I know we have all been anticipating, The Art Colony Association, Inc. (ACA), the producer of Bayou City Art Festival, has announced the return of Houston’s signature in-person art event, Bayou City Art Festival Downtown, in October 2021 in accordance with current health and safety protocols mandated by the City of Houston. It is our hope that this will be the first of many announcements like this to come in the next several months as the nation works to get control of a virus that has been allowed to spread through a combination of negligence and inaction on the part of those who could have lessened its impact much sooner.

“We look forward to welcoming our artists, sponsors, guests and nonprofit partners back to an in-person festival in the fall when we anticipate the City of Houston will allow large in-person gatherings,” said Kelly Batterson, Executive Director of the Art Colony Association. “For now, we remain committed to our mission of supporting artists, celebrating performing arts, giving back to local nonprofits and inspiring young artists who rely on art organizations for inspiration and support in this unprecedented time.” 
  
With the current threat of the pandemic and ongoing health and safety protocols impacting event planning during COVID-19, ACA will host unique alternative virtual and smaller in-person events for the Houston community in lieu of the annual spring event, Bayou City Art Festival Memorial Park.

City of Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner added: "The pandemic has devasted special events, arts organizations, and individuals in one way or another. Thatand#39;s why I encourage people to continue wearing a face mask and to follow other health and safety protocols. As we monitor the pandemic, we must crush community spread and lower the positivity rates before we can return to enjoy our favorite in-person events, such as the Bayou City Art Festival."
