Several Memorial Hermann Health System hospitals were recently named Best Maternity Care Hospitals by Newsweek. This designation is part of Newsweek’s Best Health Care series, which relies on data from The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit organization that reports the quality and safety of healthcare facilities in the United States.
“This recognition is a testament to the great team work, high quality care and commitment to patient safety that makes Memorial Hermann a great place for pregnant women,” said Victoria Reagan, MD, Vice President, Women’s and Children’s Service Line at Memorial Hermann.
Out of a total of 217 hospitals from across the country, Memorial Hermann had eight named to the list, including:
Memorial Hermann Cypress Hospital
Memorial Hermann Greater Heights Hospital
Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital
Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center
Memorial Hermann Northeast
Memorial Hermann Southeast
Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital
Memorial Hermann Sugar Land Hospital
Hospitals that were selected fully meet Leapfrog’s strict standards for excellence in maternity care which includes strong quality improvement efforts to decrease early elective deliveries, episiotomy, cesarean delivery in low risk women, and newborn bilirubin screening prior to discharge.
